Demography and Social Statistics

DSS Undergraduate Programmes

Introduction:

Demography is the scientific study of human populations especially with reference to their sizes, density, composition, distribution and changes that occur in them over time; and the social, economic, political and other consequences that accompany such changes.  It is a discipline that cuts across many aspects of human development and therefore finds relevance and applications in several social science, science and health disciplines, including economics, psychology, sociology, geography, business management and science disciplines such as biology, public health and medical sciences. The programme at Covenant University has graduated eleven sets of undergraduate students and it is fully accredited by the National University Commission (NUC). The Programme is blessed with vibrant faculty who are highly trained and have both local and international experiences in the field. They are dedicated and committed to the development of future generation of demographers and population scientists that are highly needed in Nigeria, Africa and Globally.
